About The Role The Mortgage Funder will perform routine duties independently, while functioning in a team environment. The Mortgage Funder must be able to plan their workload efficiently and demonstrate a sense of urgency and ability to work well under pressure.
Responsibilities Includes File Management (70%)
- Review documentation received from Solicitors/Closing Agent with a 98% accuracy and compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policies.
- Perform all required duties such as preparing draft advance and final advance, reviewing of documents, authorize the release of funds to the solicitor all with efficiently.
- Respond to all inquiries within the established time frame.
- Prepare Solicitor/Closing Agent Instruction package within defined SLAs.
- Liaise with Solicitors/Closing Agent to ensure instructions have been received and respond to any initial Solicitors inquires. Ensure Solicitor information is up to date in the system and in accordance with the Home Trust Company’s Solicitor.
- Complete Solicitor vetted through the Law society.
- Escalate any documentation issues with Manager and Underwriter.
- Work in collaboration with Underwriting Team and other areas of the company to ensure service levels are maintained and targets are met.
- Provide daily updates on working pipeline to management.
- Ensure all relevant notes, including follow-up and status of files are entered into the system correctly.
- Provide mentorship and training to new Funders.
- Provide coverage for other team members pipelines in their absence.
- Handling a high volume of files in a proficient and efficient manner.
Risk Management & Compliance (20%)
- Ensure Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Client legislation is adhered to on all files.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the company’s funding procedures, legal guidelines and resources.
Communication (10%)
- Display a commitment to the highest customer service ranking in the industry.
- Communicate and work in conjunction with Underwriting and Solicitor’s to ensure the funding of Mortgage transactions is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
What We’re Looking For
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in related area or discipline (university an asset)
- Law Clerk or Paralegal accreditation(s), certification(s) are strong assets
- Minimum of 2 years funding experience or relevant law office experience
- Strong understanding of residential mortgage
- Solution-focused and takes initiative to ensure self and team work effectively and efficiently within established guidelines
- Strong organizational, time management, and strategic thinking
- Strong interpersonal relationship building and listening skills
- Effective leader who motivates and engages others through fostering a collaborative team environment
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Excellent written/verbal communication and professional maturity
- Able to multi-task and flourish in a fast paced, deadline-driven work environment
- Consistently demonstrates and reinforces organizational values
- Solid knowledge of MS Office

- Expected base salary range is $50,000 - $60,000 per year
