The Opportunity An experienced and detail-oriented Estimator is sought to join the Special Projects division. This role plays a critical part in securing successful bids by accurately estimating costs for fast-paced and often unique mechanical projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for Tenant Improvements (TI), renovations, and other special projects ranging from $50,000 to several million dollars.
• Review project documentation including plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop comprehensive estimates covering time, materials, labour, and cost.
• Manage the tender process by coordinating with sub-trades and suppliers to distribute relevant documentation and obtain competitive quotes.
• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical systems.
• Identify and assess risks and opportunities specific to working within existing structures or occupied spaces.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with sub-trades, suppliers, and industry contacts.
• Prepare complete and competitive proposal packages.
• Price change orders and site instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with project managers during pre-construction and ensure seamless project handoff post-award.
• Maintain estimating tools, workbooks, and historical cost data.
• Track bidding performance and support analysis within the Special Projects team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Mechanical Estimator, ideally with a focus on Special Projects.
• Proficiency with AutoBid estimating software and experience using Trimble.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and with external stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Post-secondary education or trade certification in a related field is considered an asset.
