About the role

The VP of Finance will oversee the full financial operations of Lark Projects and related entities, ensuring strong financial management, disciplined reporting, and forward-looking analysis that supports the company’s growth. Reporting to the CFO, this role offers the opportunity for someone with strong strategic and operational capability to elevate themselves and take on expanded responsibilities over time.

This person will work closely with the CEO, COO, senior leadership team, and our development partners, so we are looking for someone who fits well within a collaborative, fast-paced, and highly engaged executive environment. The ideal candidate brings deep financial expertise and strong business acumen, with the ability to think beyond the numbers—connecting financial insights to operational decisions, project outcomes, and long-term strategy. They must be both strategic and creative in their approach, able to lead a high-performing team, and contribute meaningfully to culture, people development, and organizational growth.

This is a demanding and rewarding role for someone who wants to meaningfully influence the financial direction of the business, operate as a trusted partner to senior leadership, and contribute to projects with purpose and impact.

Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Act as a strategic financial advisor to the CFO, CEO, COO, and senior leadership team.
  • Translate financial insights into practical recommendations that support operational decisions, capital allocation, and business growth.
  • Support organizational strategy, long-term planning, scenario modelling, and major investment decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with development partners, lenders, auditors, and external advisors.

Financial Management & Governance

  • Oversee all financial operations across multiple entities, including accounting, reporting, payroll, treasury, job costing, and month-end close.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial information and consolidated reporting.
  • Strengthen financial governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks across all business units.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant bodies, and tax obligations.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, multi-year financial planning, and rolling forecasts.
  • Develop tools and dashboards to monitor performance, trends, cash flow, and project-specific financial outcomes.
  • Provide proactive cash flow management strategies to support construction, development, and other growth initiatives.

Construction & Development Finance

  • Oversee project and construction costing, margin analysis, and financial monitoring throughout project lifecycles.
  • Partner with Project Directors, Estimating and Development teams to ensure alignment between project execution and financial expectations.
  • Support contract evaluation, procurement strategy, and vendor financial assessments.
  • Guide financial components of development pro formas, land evaluations, and partnership structures.

Business Partnerships & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with operational leaders to connect financial performance with operational behaviour and project outcomes.
  • Contribute to shaping business processes and systems that improve efficiency and strengthen financial stability.
  • Operate as a trusted partner to senior executives, providing clear, actionable insights that support decision-making.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a strong finance team; build capacity to support a growing and increasingly complex organization.
  • Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Model Lark’s core values and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture.

Capital & Corporate Structure Support

  • Support financing arrangements, lender negotiations, and capital planning.
  • Assist with corporate structuring, entity management, and long-term financing strategies.
  • Provide financial insight into new business opportunities, partnerships, and acquisitions.

Qualifications

  • CPA required; MBA or equivalent advanced financial training considered an asset.
  • 10+ years in progressive finance roles, including leadership at the Director, VP, or senior Controller level.
  • Experience in construction, development, real estate, or complex project-based industries strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing finance teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, financial modelling, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to connect financial data to real-world decisions.
  • Clear communicator who can simplify complex financial information.
  • Able to build trust and credibility quickly with executives and partners.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
