Project/Relationship Manager, Workspace

Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00
What you'll do
BC Hydro has a large, complex portfolio of buildings across the province of British Columbia. We have an exciting
opportunity in our Properties’ business unit for a collaborative, adaptable, and resilient professional to join our team as a
Relationship Manager, Workspace Management. This hybrid position is headquartered in our downtown Vancouver location
and reports to the Manager, Workspace Management & Office Services.
Joining a team of Relationship Managers and Project Coordinators, you’ll implement and manage complex workspace
initiatives and projects, maintain furniture and design standards, engage with all levels of the organization, and collaborate
closely with Properties teams such as Planning and Asset Management and Building Projects. The ideal candidate thrives
in an environment with evolving priorities and is comfortable making informed decisions amid ambiguity. In addition, we’re
looking for a candidate who possesses an ability to foster positive client and team dynamics by constructively addressing
and guiding conversations toward productive outcomes.
Key accountabilities include:
- Provides project management expertise in the delivery and implementation of strategies and standards related to BC
Hydro’s Flexible Workplace Program, including shared desks and optimal space usage to accommodate more flexibility in
the future.
- Engages with internal clients proactively and reactively to plan and respond to requirements for additional workspace to
accommodate the expansion or centralization of teams.
- Leads complex negotiations between business groups with competing requirements for workspace in BC Hydro’s at or
near capacity buildings.
- Works alongside with our Properties’ Planning and Asset Management and Building Projects teams and our Project
Management delivery partner on building renovation and new capital development projects.
- Works with BC Hydro’s Property Leasing Services department to ensure office leases align with current and projected
workspace requirements; provides input into selecting lease locations that align with projections.
- Provides project management expertise for workspace projects, including upgrades and decommissioning of new
buildings or leases.
- Engages building occupants and management to identify opportunities for increased workspace density, efficiency and
improvements that support business needs and employee growth.
- Liaises with BC Hydro’s Interior Design contractor, General Contractor, Furniture Suppliers, other trades, and internal
clients to deliver high functioning and collaborative workspace.
- Makes recommendations for best-use-of-space solutions from an organizational perspective, identifying low or no cost
solutions to address design challenges and enhance workspaces in alignment with BC Hydro’s affordability focus.

Develops and implements business processes to improve our department’s overall operations and efficiency.

Works alongside our Senior Relationship Manager in developing and reinforcing the Interior Space Standards.
What you bring

Bachelors’ level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-
A minimum of 8 years of related experience in one of the following areas: project management, corporate space/facilities
planning, change management, relationship/account management, and/or marketing/communications. Consideration will
also be given to experience in other relevant fields.
- Preference given to candidates possessing exceptional stakeholder-engagement skills and experience, with proven ability
to partner effectively with senior management and executive leaders.
- Must be a strong collaborator who motivates and supports colleagues to excel while fostering a team culture focused on
shared priorities and goals. Stellar persuasive influence and conflict resolution skills also required.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, including business case writing, briefing notes, and
proposals

Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Experience managing an integrated project team for commercial interior renovations projects, including project
coordinators and general trades would be an asset.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation with the Project Management Institute (PMI) would be an asset.

- This is a P3 M&P Full-Time Regular (FTR) opportunity on the team based at our 333 Dunsmuir Street location in
Vancouver. Frequent onsite work required at our Burnaby/Edmonds campus location over the next several months as well.

Please note this position requires occasional travel throughout the province for up to one week at a time.

A valid class 5 driver’s license is highly beneficial and preferred, but not required.

Please note internally the position is also referred to as Project Manager 1.

Please note this role is classified as a Hybrid role under the flexible work model, which currently includes a mix of working
from home and working in the office. At present, this role is expected to work in the office a minimum of two days per week
however at times it could be more frequent due to operational requirements and does require flexibility.
