Reporting to the Wastewater Supervisor’s, the role repairs and replaces on demand components in the facilities to keep them in good repair and safe operating condition. Through a preventative maintenance program, the role will maintain/oversee mechanical equipment in the operation of the wastewater treatment plant, wastewater pumping stations locations within Bradford West Gwillimbury. Assists in the day-to-day operations of the Wastewater division.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain mechanical and some electrical equipment as warranted (both doing repairs and coordinating mechanical/electrical repairs by external companies/contractors).
- Perform preventative maintenance of pumps; repairing and rebuilding valves (PRV, Air Release, Check, Gate and Butterfly); replacing bearings, wear rings and mechanical seals; and undertaking lubrication of various pieces of equipment.
- Performs Operator duties in the wastewater division by performing daily Operator duties as performed by Class 1 Operators as defined under those positions job descriptions.
- Maintain personal logs, station logs, and maintenance logs detailing work done and process changes made at facilities as directed.
- Responsible for ordering equipment and supplies through various mechanical and electrical parts suppliers.
- Adjusts/calibrates Miltronics instrument settings, facilitates operational improvements by installing, calibrating and configuring instrumentation settings
- Maintains the maintenance workshop in a safe, clean and organized fashion. Ensure all tools, equipment spare parts are labelled, secured and safely accessible.
Key Competencies and Qualifications
- Licensed Industrial Millwright Mechanic
- MOE Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection OIT license (and willingness to Obtain Class 1 within a reasonable timeframe).
- 4 years of experience working in an industrial maintenance position.
- Preference will be given to those who have wastewater experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff, developers, contractors and the general public.
- Candidates must be able to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, contractors and the general public.
- Availability to work after hours for emergencies and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to complete a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check upon hire.
The position offers a salary range of $73,629 to $89,496 (2025 rates) plus a competitive benefit package.
