Summary:
TheEstimatorwill play an integral role in the continued growth and expansion of Clearway Utilities, contributing expertise across numerous activities associated with the bidding/tendering, preparation and execution of construction projects.
**Location:**Clearway's Head Office – Maple, ON.
**Hours of Operations:**8:00 am to 5:00 pm (EST)
As a heavy civil contractor, Clearway’s workforce requirements can fluctuate with project schedules and anticipated contract awards. We are currently seeking skilled candidates to join our team and encourage qualified applicants to submit their application.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Read, understand, and interpret drawings and specifications
-
Understand and tailor estimates and proposal response documents for unit rate and lump sum contracts
-
Participate in pursuits relating to stipulated price (bid-build), design-build and construction/project management project deliveries
-
Participate in and contribute to constructability, staging and schedule reviews
-
Assist in the assembly of accurate and well-organized cost estimates
-
Complete detailed quantity takeoffs from provided documents
-
Identify areas of risk and information gaps and seek direction from senior department staff or customer representatives
-
Format and construct estimate cost breakdowns which incorporate takeoffs into HeavyBid software
-
Identify scopes of work within pursuits which may be completed by sub-contractors or materials which must be provided by third-party suppliers
-
Propose and apply labor, equipment and material resources for application in estimates
-
Solicit and organize sub-contractor and supplier quotations, negotiate to ensure sub-contractor quotations meet the requirements and intent of associated contract documents
-
Participate in tender closings.

Fill out or otherwise complete documents which are required for pursuits, including planning for and delivering tenders
-
Build, write and submit quotation letters
-
Develop and maintain information databases and relationships with sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers
-
Maintain rate database for estimating
-
Review bid advertising websites and report leads
-
Participate in weekly planning and strategy meetings
-
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
-
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
-
Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management Diploma an asset
-
2 + years of estimating experience, preferably within dry utilities civil construction
-
Detail oriented, and able to multi-task under the pressure of deadlines
-
A passion for construction
-
Effective time management and organizational skills
-
Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment
-
Able to conduct technical communications in English with internal and external parties, both written and verbal
-
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada – no work permit sponsorship is available for this position

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 (CAD)
