###Overview

Reporting to the Housekeeping Manager with a site-line to the Community Managers, the Custodian is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the Independent Living communities, and to report all safety concerns during the assigned shift. This position requires them to be knowledgeable in emergency procedures and able to take appropriate actions.

###Responsibilities

Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all common areas, including entrances, hallways, laundry rooms, activity rooms and public bathrooms

Responsible for garbage removal from areas listed above as well as general cleanliness of garbage collection rooms and equipment

Responsible to assure that public bathrooms are maintained and with adequate supplies

Responsible for snow/leaf removal at all major entranceways to the communities as required

Responsible to assure that housekeeping equipment is kept in good working order

Assists in the overall cleaning of Independent Living units when there is a changeover of residents

Participates in and promotes Silvera’s Health and Safety program

Reports and assists with any emergency situations which may arise. Completes all paperwork and follows procedures as required

Reports any safety issues to Community Management

Attends various committees and training sessions as requested by Silvera

Attends all staff meetings

Complete Incident Reports as necessary

Ability to work in the Silvera Yardi Maintenance phone application

Create maintenance work orders as needed

Completes Work Orders for minor maintenance tasks to assist Building Operations Team

Flexibility to support all IL communities to relieve other Custodians as required

Other duties as assigned

###Qualifications

Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in housekeeping/room attendance is essential.

Demonstrates a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance.

Demonstrates strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.

Basic computer skills, such as: basic keyboard skills, ability to complete reports, email functions, ability to complete Silvera online training, placing online orders.

Experience in ordering supplies would be considered an asset.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and/or as a team member.

###Work Conditions

Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.

Required to operate heavy cleaning equipment.

Will be required to perform repetitive housekeeping tasks.

Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines.

Will be exposed to:

Corrosive and non-corrosive chemicals.

Frequent bending and stretching.

Pulling and pushing, lifting furniture.

Hours of Work

Rotational shift work required, including weekends. All shifts are 8.5 hours and will fall within the range of 7:00am – 5:00pm.
