Job Overview

Reporting to the Director, designQ, as the Designer you will provide design expertise and manage finishing selections of new homes for assigned projects and clients.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Showcasing selection options, including specification products and premium options, to assist clients with selecting interior and/or exterior finishes for their homes.
  • Reviewing client selections, completing corresponding documentation and maintaining an updated and accurate database for client selections.
  • Addressing client inquiries or concerns in a professional and timely manner. Conducting site visits to clarify installation and product issues.
  • Submitting quotation requests to trade partners. Liaising with Estimating team for custom price requests and communicating with clients accordingly.
  • Selecting interior and exterior products, colour charts, and materials based on the budget and geographical location for specification houses and specifying those selections for architectural approval. Site visits may be required to answer any installation and/or product questions.
  • Creating accurate drawings of flooring layouts and forwarding to related department accordingly.
  • Staying current on design trends and product knowledge to ensure selections align with customer preferences, lifestyles and budgets.

Essential Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Completed, or are working towards a degree or diploma in Interior Design, or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
  • Proficient using office equipment and Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Access, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint) and related software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sales or consultant related experience in Design industry is preferred.
  • Experience in the home building industry or related field considered an asset.

Work Conditions

Primarily works in an office setting. Hours are primarily regular business hours with evening work being required one day a week. Overtime may occasionally be required.
