Burnaby Hospital neurology group is seeking a general neurologist to join the team as a long-term locum. Subspecialty training or fellowship is an asset but not required for this position.
Burnaby Hospital sits on the border of East Vancouver and is a 286-bed acute hospital that provides a full range of medical, surgical, obstetric, tertiary palliative care, psychiatry, critical care as well as 24/7 emergency services. It is one of the teaching hospitals affiliated with the University of British Columbia. The construction of two new hospital towers, new cancer center, and renovation of existing care facilities are currently underway bringing an exciting future for Burnaby Hospital as a state-of-the-art medical center. The $2.4 billion Burnaby Hospital redevelopment project is among the province’s largest health care investments.
The current neurology group consists of 10 dedicated neurologists with a variety of subspecialty expertise to provide patient-centered care to patients in East Vancouver and Burnaby. Our organizational culture is to foster a strong collegial and supportive atmosphere, with attention to individual personal and professional development, and work-life balance. Our ideal candidate is one who possesses an interest in practicing comprehensive neurology including acute stroke care. Preference will be given to a candidate who demonstrates strong teamwork and problem-solving skills. The neurologist is expected to participate in our neuro-hospitalist roster; call coverage is one evening per week or less and occasional weekend calls. Cross call coverage will be provided by group members when on vacation. There are plenty of community resources to build a private practice or join local clinics in Burnaby.
