About the role
Peak is currently recruiting for an experiences Finance Associate focused on Accounts Payable and Inventory for a vacant position. Job duties will include:
Financial
- Perform daily accounting-related functions, including account reconciliations, general ledger management, accounts receivable and monthly accruals for assigned accounts.
- Perform credit applications, ensure supplier statements are received from key / material vendors and reconciled on a monthly basis to avoid double payment
- Provide insight into vendors who require payments on a weekly basis to support the preparation of weekly cash flow projections and provide warning of threats to suspension of Peak for vendor goods and services
- Participate in developing and maintaining the Company’s financial budget, forecast, and planning model
- Prepare, review and analyze quotes, purchase orders, receiving of goods, vendor invoices, and generate payments.
- Complete survey requests for government agencies (ex. Statistics Canada) and industry associations
- Assist in managing and improving internal controls
- Participate in the monthly closing of financials for the global organization
- Continuously assess business and departmental processes, and make changes to improve efficiency and productivity
- Undertake special projects and analysis as requested and make specific recommendations when appropriate
- Prepare, analyze and present weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports
- Complete on a timely basis assigned portions of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Assist in preparation of year end file for accountants and liaise with auditors on annual financial statements and tax returns as needed
- Reconcile appropriate balance sheet items and conduct operating financial analysis
- Help develop and maintain financial policies and standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Ensure strong relationships with vendor representatives and timely processing of payments especially for critical materials
- Build relationships with our key suppliers (AP) and become main contact person for AP queries.
- Ensure prompt responses to vendors regarding queries on invoices, payments and reconciliation
- Additional tasks as assigned or required
Team and Stake Holder Management
- Ensure timely period end close process to feed all reporting to Management, the Board and Shareholders
- Collaborate with the Controller and CFO for a cordial and professional relationship with Vendors and External Auditors
- Support the Controller, A&R with ad-hoc requests and reporting as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a financial, operational, or business analyst role; experience in a manufacturing or CPG environment is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, Power Query, Vena Solutions, or similar tools is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and work flexible hours
