Project Opportunity We are looking for a Senior Quality Coordinator to join our FCC Canada team assigned to the ONxpress Project
This position is located in downtown Toronto, ON and requires a daily presence in the office and/or on the construction sites.
ONxpress Transportation Partners was chosen in 2022 by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the track, civil infrastructure, signalling, and electrification for the GO Expansion program. This project will transform the GO Transit rail network, resulting in more frequent two-way service, shorter journey times, and a modernized system for the Greater Golden Horseshoe area.

Position Summary The Senior Quality Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing quality control and assurance activities in alignment with the Project Quality Management System (QMS). This role ensures compliance with project specifications, supports continuous improvement, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high-quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. The Senior Quality Coordinator’s key responsibilities are:
- Oversee Quality Control & Assurance requirements as defined in Project QMS.
- Prepare, review, and ensure proper implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) before construction begins.
- Identify activities requiring inspection and testing and allocating necessary resources accordingly.
- Ensure inspections and tests are performed by approved ITPs and that quality records are complete, accurate, and traceable.
- Supervise quality inspection staff and verify their qualifications and experience.
- Assist in issuing and resolving Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including reviewing root causes and corrective actions proposed by contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Track inspection and testing status and ensure non-conforming products or activities are documented and controlled.
- Verify resolution of NCRs and ensure affected materials/products are re-inspected or retested as needed.
- Provide quality system training to employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Support ongoing training initiatives to ensure consistent implementation of quality procedures.
- Coordinate and participate in subcontractor/supplier kickoff meetings and quality-related meetings.
- Collaborate with client teams for joint inspections and issue resolution.
- Conduct internal (1st Party) audits and external (2nd Party) audits on subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify non-conformities and opportunities for improvement, ensuring timely closure.
- Participate in quality meetings and provide input for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review and audit quality functions to ensure compliance with QMS.
- Manage quality documentation in accordance with established procedures and systems (e.g., Aconex).
- Prepare and maintain quality records, inspection reports, and test packages.
- Assist in developing forms and templates for inspection, testing, and reporting.
- Support the Quality Manager in preparing regular quality summaries and improvement recommendations.
- Coordinate quality activities with internal teams, Contracting Authority, Utilities, and Governmental Authorities.
- Ensure adherence to Design and Contracting Authority witness/hold points as defined in ITPs.
- Evaluate construction work for compliance with project requirements, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensure equipment used for inspection/testing is fit for purpose, calibrated, and maintained.
- Support the development and implementation of a project-wide quality assurance program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or Construction Quality Manager (CQM).
Education And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related industry.
- 5 years of related experience in the construction industry, preferably in heavy civil / or rail transit construction projects with a strong understanding of quality management systems and practices.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with document management software: Aconex, SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, ProjectWise, Procore would be an asset.
Job Requirements
- Preferably experience or understanding of transit or construction systems in Ontario.
- Experience leading standards audits and techniques.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. Understanding the standard requirements.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification is preferred.
