These individuals handle financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management. Those in payroll at PwC will assist in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. Working in this area, you will handle payroll administration, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes, as well as confirming compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your responsibilities include collaborating with HR teams to maintain employee records, address payroll-related inquiries, and assist in payroll accuracy. You will play a crucial role in making sure employees are paid correctly and on time, contributing to the overall financial well-being of the organization and supporting employee satisfaction.
Meaningful work you’ll be part of
As a Payroll Specialist, Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and oversee payroll staff to ensure that all semi-monthly processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner
- Operate as a subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues while looking for improvements in operational processes
- Process all remittances, including federal and provincial payroll taxes
- Generate payroll related reports and complete analysis
- Prepare and process journal entries, analyze transactions and prepare account reconciliations
- Oversee the reconciliation and balancing (on a semi-monthly payroll cycle) of all payroll earnings and deduction accounts
- Conduct payroll orientations for new employees, provide guidance, and share knowledge with team members
- Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and external organizations
- Assist Payroll Manager on year-end activities and other special projects as required
- Assist and participate in special projects
Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve
- PCP or CPM designation from the CPA or equivalent
- Payroll experience with demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills and strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills, experience with Workday payroll system is an asset
- Ability to handle and use discretion with highly confidential information and knowledge of quality assurance and audit techniques
- Advanced communication skills both written and oral and excellent customer service, relationship building and cross-functional skills
- Demonstrated initiative and organizational, analytical, conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy of results and ability to adapt to a changing environment
