About the role
About Gravity Gravity is the platform public agencies use to manage budgeting, automate financial reporting, and meet compliance with confidence. From Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR) to Budget Books to GASB disclosures, we give teams the tools to move faster, work smarter, and build public trust.
Role Overview As Head of Product (Financial Applications), you will define and lead the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring our NEW product portfolio aligns with company vision and customer needs. You will manage the product lifecycle — from discovery and design through launch and iteration — and lead a high-performing team of product managers, UX/design and data analysts. You will work closely with engineering, go-to-market, customer success and leadership to deliver high-impact outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Define the product vision, strategy and roadmap in alignment with the company’s mission, business goals and market opportunities.
- Lead and build the product organisation: hire, mentor, set goals, and develop the capability of product managers, UX/design professionals and data analysts.
- Establish strong discovery practices: empathise with customers (public sector finance teams), identify problems worth solving, prioritise ruthlessly, validate solutions, prototype and iterate.
- Partner with engineering and UX/design to translate strategy into delivered features: ensure high USABILITY, high PERFORMANCE, measurable impact and quality user experience.
- Use data and metrics to drive decision-making: define KPIs, analyse usage, monitor product health, conduct A/B tests, learn & iterate quickly.
- Work with Go-to-Market (GTM) teams to build launch plans, positioning, and internal enablement, ensuring product launches go smoothly and succeed in the market.
- Manage lifecycle of existing products: monitor adoption, gather feedback, prioritise backlog, drive continuous improvement and remove friction.
- Act as a leader, evangelising the product vision both internally and externally: build consensus, communicate clearly to stakeholders, engage customers and help the team understand “why”.
- Stay on top of trends in the public sector finance software space (automation, transparency, compliance, AI-enabled workflows) and identify strategic opportunities for innovation.
What You’ll Bring
- You have 8+ years of product management experience (ideally SaaS) including 3+ years leading a product team.
- You have experience building & scaling complex software products (preferably in enterprise / public sector or regulated domain).
- You are comfortable working in a cross-functional, agile environment, and have experience collaborating with engineering, UX/design, data, customer success, sales and marketing.
- You are fluent in both strategy and execution: you can define high-level product vision and roll up your sleeves to dive into the details of product design, user flows, metrics and experiments.
- You are data-driven: you leverage analytics, experimentation, user research and feedback loops to make decisions and measure success.
- You are customer-obsessed: you deeply empathise with user problems, especially those in the public sector, and have a track-record of solving them in a way that drives business impact.
- You are a strong communicator and leader: you can influence at all levels, set clear priorities, align teams around shared goals, and foster a collaborative, high-performing product culture.
- You have a growth mindset: you seek continuous improvement, embrace change, challenge the status quo and champion innovation.
About You
- You’re a builder at heart — you find energy in creating clarity from complexity.
- You care deeply about products that make people’s work better, not just easier.
- You lead with empathy, curiosity, and a focus on impact.
- You think in systems — connecting strategy, design, data, and execution.
- You balance vision with detail: you can define the “why” and own the “how.”
- You’re comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and prioritizing what truly matters.
- You see leadership as service — empowering others and fostering collaboration.
- You communicate clearly and build alignment across teams and disciplines.
- You value learning, iteration, and outcomes over ego.
- You believe public sector software should be as intuitive and elegant as the best consumer products — and you’re ready to help make that happen.
