Summary of responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Materials Management and Environmental Services, the Storekeeper is responsible for the top off carts, storing and issuing supplies, controlling and issuing direct purchases, receiving goods, assembling orders and delivering to departments, maintaining/ analyzing inventory quotas on assigned nursing units and assisting with the printing functions. A significant amount of time is spent lifting, carrying and moving heavy materials throughout the hospital.
Requirements of the job
- Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (heavy lifting/carrying/pulling/ pushing materials)
- Ability to accurately prepare and process all inventory documentation
- Ability to coordinate the distribution/delivery of supplies to Departments
- Ability to monitor stores stock inventory levels
- Knowledge of computers and ability to function in a computerized environment
- Knowledge and application of proper lifting techniques, demonstrate good body mechanics and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills, strong team orientation with good communication and problem solving skills
- Computer skills (E-mail, supply chain software, Word, Excel)
- Must pass internal basic Excel test
- Knowledge of medical/surgical supplies and equipment
- Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
- Functional level in English (oral and written)
Asset:
- Functional level in French (oral)
- Recent ‘supply chain’ experience
