The Opportunity The Legal, Internal Audit & Corporate Compliance team is seeking a senior executive leader in Calgary, AB to provide independent assurance, enterprise compliance leadership, and Board-level oversight in support of TC Energy’s governance, risk, and control environment. The Vice President, Internal Audit & Corporate Compliance is a strategic and principled leader with deep expertise in internal audit, compliance, enterprise risk, and public-company governance. The role reports to the EVP & General Counsel and has direct accountability to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors for the internal audit function.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide executive leadership and oversight of the enterprise compliance framework to ensure alignment with legislative, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and monitoring of key compliance programs including ethics, anti-bribery and corruption, inter-affiliate compliance, privacy, and trade compliance.
  • Provide executive leadership and oversight of the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Lead an independent, risk-based Internal Audit function providing objective assurance over governance, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Develop and execute the annual Internal Audit Plan and present results directly to the Audit Committee.
  • Report on significant audit findings, control issues, and remediation progress.
  • Oversee investigations under the Code of Business Ethics in accordance with governance and legal expectations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board and executive leadership on compliance, ethics, and internal control matters.
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing Internal Audit and Compliance teams with full budgetary accountability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CPA / CA / LLB / JD designation or equivalent professional certification.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in internal audit, compliance, risk management, or related advisory roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and execute strategic vision in complex, regulated environments.
  • Experience working with Boards and Board committees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading audit and compliance functions in large or global organizations.
  • Strong executive communication skills with senior leadership and Boards.
  • Track record of driving process, control, and system improvements.
  • MBA or additional relevant professional designation.
