Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Staff Scheduling Coordinator, in consultation with the Unit Managers, Facility Patient Care Manager & On- Call, is responsible for ensuring that adequate staffing levels are maintained for Nursing Units and other units as required. Duties include:

Maintaining staffing and payroll processes utilizing ESP. Placing calls to staff as required to cover unmet baseline requirements due to short-term absences are well as workload. Placing calls to staff and offering additional shifts in accordance with applicable Collective Agreements. Ensuring data integrity and accuracy in ESP and in other aspects relating to staffing and alerts Unit Managers/Designate of any staffing discrepancies.

Experience

One-year previous staff scheduling experience required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required. Successful completion of a recognized secretarial training program. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Qualifications And Skills

Typing 50 wpm required. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) required. Medical terminology (75% pass mark preferred). Knowledge of Environment for Scheduling Personnel (ESP) or other service-based staff scheduling systems required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Must understand and communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.

Physical Requirements

Able to work under stressful conditions in a high-volume environment.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden Door Geriatric Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
