Job Summary Ainsworth is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator, to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta. The role will be responsible for estimating plumbing, mechanical hydronic systems, and sheet metal services. The majority of our estimating focuses on renovations, retrofits, equipment replacement and new construction in the commercial, institutional, and light industrial markets. The expectations is that you can work independently managing all aspects of an estimate from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Review prints and project specifications for estimating purposes
- Understanding of mechanical drawings for estimating and pricing
- Assemble detailed and accurate quality take-offs and cost estimates
- Develop project material budgeting by gathering costs for the various items needed to complete the project
- Obtaining equipment and sub contractor pricing
- Preparing final estimate for review
- Visiting job sites for estimating purposes and reviews of estimates on actual jobs
- Preparing change orders, following up on them and processing them once accepted
- Ability to manage and execute multiple tenders at the same time
Qualifications
- Licensed trades person OR combination of education and work experience will be considered
- 4+ years of experience in estimating
- Excellent organization skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and mechanical drawings.
- Familiar with plumbing and boiler codes.
- Experience using Trimble Accubid is considered an asset.
