About Support Services
The Support Services Department at Mount Sinai Hospital is vital to ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment for patients and staff. Comprising over 400 dedicated professionals, including housekeepers and porters, the team excels in upholding high standards of cleanliness, managing waste and recycling, and handling mail and linen distribution. We invest in our team with robust training and professional development, ensuring they contribute to the exceptional care our hospital is known for.

In this role you will:

  • Manage and coordinate the Support Services departmental scheduling and payroll for all program cost centres ensuring timeliness and accuracy
  • Manage department hiring process by working alongside recruitment stakeholders to interview and onboard Support Services Staff
  • Answer departmental main phone line and dispatch Supervisors accordingly; triages and prioritizes requests to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to all internal and external Sinai affiliates
  • Ensure staff shift replacements are completed in a manner that minimizes overtime, adheres to collective agreement requirements, and applicable policies and procedures
  • Oversees the timely entry, validation, and approvals for department payroll
  • Ensure the accurate tracking of financial data and key performance/results indicators for Support Services; analyze data and create reports and summaries for the portfolio
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement to and program development initiatives that support departmental goals aligned with the Sinai Health’s strategic direction
  • Provides administrative assistance to Project Work scheduling
  • Documents and provides meeting minutes for all department meetings and huddles
  • Distribute pagers and keys to staff
  • Regulates sign-in procedures and processing
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Mandatory

  • Successful completion of related college diploma from an accredited education institution

  • 1 year of experience in a Housekeeping/Support Services operation within an acute unionized healthcare environment

  • Previous experience supervising unionized employees

  • Applicants with proven equivalent and related training and experience may also be considered

Preferred

  • Membership in good standing with the Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers’ Association (O.H.H.A.)
  • Experience working with Ceridian Dayforce payroll system

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply best practices, applicable legislation, policies, procedures, collective agreements, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and changing priorities while maintaining high degree of accuracy and customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to facilitate training, team huddles, etc.
  • Sound departmental scheduling knowledge
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Team based approach to managing the needs of the organization and the patients
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and understanding of policies and protocols
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
