This position is responsible for leading the coordination and continuous improvement of key processes within the catering product portfolio, ensuring enterprise-wide consistency, data integrity, and operational readiness across Air Canada’s network. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented leader who can navigate complexity, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive meaningful improvements that enhance the inflight customer experience.
Although the Catering Product Analyst serves as a critical program steward for several foundational components of the catering ecosystem—maintaining high-quality standards, financial accuracy, compliance discipline, and cross-team alignment that enable the successful delivery of Air Canada’s catering strategy. The role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders such as inflight service, catering operations, finance, health & safety as well as many international suppliers and caterers. This role is critical to the reliability and integrity of product implementation.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Product Governance & Documentation Management
- Lead the governance, accuracy, and version control of all catering product documentation, including transmittal updates, ensuring changes are strategically aligned, risk-assessed, and communicated with discipline across caterers,
suppliers, and internal stakeholders. - Establish and maintain enterprise-wide standards for documentation workflows, ensuring product changes are implemented consistently across the global network and supporting operational readiness for all stations.
Pricing, Ingredients, and Financial Data Stewardship
- Own the end-to-end supplier pricing and ingredient data, ensuring integrity, traceability, and compliance with financial controls.
- Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the internal pricing reference system, a critical enterprise asset used by Finance, Billing, and Catering partners for accurate invoice processing and forecasting.
- Partner with Finance to identify cost risks, reconcile discrepancies, and drive process efficiencies that enhance financial accountability and reduce manual error.
Menu Content Quality Assurance & Brand Alignment
- Own the review, accuracy, and final approval of printed and digital menu content, ensuring alignment with Air Canada’s brand standards, regulatory requirements, and product strategy.
- Lead cross-functional coordination with procurement, catering partners, and design/print vendors to ensure updates are executed on time and with exceptional quality.
Financial & Supplier Performance Monitoring
- Oversee ad hoc supplier invoicing, ensuring adherence to contractual terms, budget assumptions, and corporate policies.
- Conduct trend analysis on partner spend to identify cost anomalies, operational inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities, escalating issues and driving corrective action plans with Procurement and Finance.
Social Impact & Product Donation Program Leadership
- Own the enterprise donation framework for expiring catering products, ensuring donations support Air Canada’s social impact priorities, meet safety and compliance standards, and strengthen relationships with the Air Canada Foundation and supplier partners.
- Streamline donation workflows and reporting to maximize community impact and operational efficiency.
Procurement Partnership & Tender Program Leadership
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Strategic Procurement in the development of competitive, future-proof tender packages that reflect Air Canada’s product strategy, quality standards, sustainability objectives, and cost structure.
- Translate product requirements into supplier specifications and influence commercial decision-making by providing insights on quality, operational feasibility, and long-term cost implications.
Actioning Product Feedback
- Conduct product quality assurance reviews and escalate issues when necessary.
- Conduct random product reviews to assess presentation and adherence to specifications. Document findings and escalate any quality concerns to the appropriate teams for resolution.
- Log and coordinate resolutions for customer feedback and safety incidents, including dining feedback, social media questions, and product inquiries. Manage safety incidents by redirecting issues to the relevant parties, investigating with catering partners, and closing incidents with the Safety Team.
Improve Team’s Organization and Efficiency
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team productivity and elevate cross-functional alignment.
- Evaluate current workflows and propose improvements to increase efficiency, and reduce manual errors
- Monitor implementation of new processes and serve as a resource for supporting change management across the team.
- Support the team with projects, initiatives, and day-to-day tasks as required, including:
- Meal Pre-order program
- Bistro retail program
- Crew feedback reviews
- Food audits
- Sustainability programs
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal/external stakeholders
- Undergraduate degree in business or related field an asset
- Experience in fast-paced, professional environments
- Travel between Toronto and Montreal as required
- Familiarity with Asana an asset
- Technical knowledge of process automation (Python, VBA) and database management an asset
- Airline industry experience an asset
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
