What you’ll be doing
The Senior Director, Enterprise Programs provides leadership and management of key CIBC-wide strategic programs that impact CIBC in multiple ways, including: helping meet our regulatory commitments, increasing profitability, enhancing the client experience, and driving operational efficiency and productivity improvement. The enterprise-wide programs have high impact and high complexity, span multiple years and multiple lines of business and represent a significant spend to the organization. The Senior Director is a comprehensive leader responsible for the ownership of strategic projects, overseeing process changes and service delivery to ensure an effective client experience. The role adaptively provides leadership, support and direction to the team for the effective delivery of projects and programs necessary to improve the client and employee experience. The role defines tactical objectives, directing and coordinating the development and delivery of high quality and cost-effective projects consistent with the strategic objectives of the bank. In addition, the role provides governance for strategic projects, overseeing strategic planning and supporting the executive team to ensure strategic goals are achieved.

How you’ll succeed
- Program Management and Program Financial Expertise: Govern and manage specific CIBC-wide strategic initiatives and projects to enable the enterprise to deliver on their mandate, goals and objectives. Draw upon experience to guide and organize program work for success. Leverages expert knowledge to provide guidance on staffing, work structuring & PMO Operations – Integrated Program Plans, Financial Management, Change Control.
- Leadership: Provide motivation, coaching, training and developmental opportunities to ensure employees are performing at, or developing, to role expectations. Set appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals. Create a positive work environment by being an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision, and values. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.
- Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain stakeholder and executive management relationships to effectively facilitate decision making and develop risk mitigating strategies to ensure the successful implementation of specific strategic programs. Develop and manage internal relationships with CIBC’s technology team and other infrastructure groups, as necessary, to deliver programs within the approved budgets and timelines.
- Matrix Management: Develop compelling presentation materials to report Program status and support executive discussion and decision making. Calibrate work progress, status and participate in the negotiation and influence business partners in a matrix environment to ensure alignment of initiatives and individual deliverables across dependent initiatives.
- Change Management: Lead the Change Enablement and People Change Management to ensure effective roll-out of the overall change.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate Program Management expertise with a minimum of 8-10 years and have a successful track record of project and program management in a large scale, multi-faceted project. Professional designation in programs or project management is an asset.
- Financial Services business acumen. Comprehensive knowledge of financial services practices and principles sufficient to analyze and interpret complex concepts and apply these in innovative ways.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to gain commitment and support to desired objectives. Precise articulation of ideas and opinions in order to prepare detailed business cases and strategies. Establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments, and partners across the organization and externally.
- Advanced influential/negotiation skills sufficient to recognize and respond to underlying concerns of multiple interests in a matrix environment and to lead/shape decision making process in situations that involve complexity and ambiguity.
- Strong management and leadership skills are essential to lead/motivate a highly professional and diverse workforce. You have experience developing and implementing strategic team goals. You have experience coaching employees and inspiring successful team performance. You will be an authentic leader who is passionate about developing and coaching to bring out the best in people. You will support and mentor team members through knowledge sharing, collaboration and effective problem solving.
