About the role

Financial Analyst – Supply Chain & Engineering

Position Summary

The Financial Analyst – Supply Chain & Engineering provides analytical and financial insight supporting De Havilland’s mission of operational excellence in aircraft production, sustainment, and innovation. Reporting directly to the SVP, Supply Chain & Engineering, this role is responsible for analyzing and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and productivity of both functions.

The analyst will design and maintain monthly reporting packages that combine operational metrics (schedule adherence, supplier quality, design throughput) with financial performance indicators (cost per aircraft, material variance, engineering spend, inventory turns) to provide a comprehensive view of performance for senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain integrated KPI dashboards for Supply Chain and Engineering, including both operational and financial measures.
  • Track and analyze key metrics such as:
  • Supply Chain: on-time delivery, supplier quality yield, purchase price variance (PPV), inventory turns, material cost per aircraft, procurement cycle times.
  • Engineering: engineering cost per aircraft, design labor utilization, non-recurring engineering (NRE) cost tracking, change request backlog, drawing release rate, and first-time-right percentages.
  • Prepare a monthly performance reporting package summarizing trends, risks, and opportunities, presented to senior leadership and the executive team.
  • Conduct variance and root-cause analysis (actual vs. plan/forecast) to highlight cost drivers, schedule impacts, and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve program margins, production flow, and design efficiency.

Forecasting, Budgeting & Decision Support

  • Support the annual budget and rolling forecast process for Supply Chain and Engineering cost centers.
  • Partner with the operational and engineering leads to ensure alignment of headcount, material, and project forecasts with corporate financial objectives.
  • Develop forward-looking analytics to anticipate supply-chain disruptions or engineering workload imbalances.
  • Model financial impacts of make-vs-buy decisions, supplier transitions, or new design initiatives.

Data & Systems Integration

  • Collaborate with the ERP (IFS) and Data Analytics teams to ensure consistent and accurate data structures for cost and KPI reporting.
  • Lead process improvements to automate data collection and reporting, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy.
  • Support standardization of performance reporting across programs and sites.

Strategic & Executive Support

  • Prepare executive-level presentations that clearly link operational results to financial performance.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction, supplier consolidation, and engineering efficiency initiatives by providing financial modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Support due diligence and integration analysis for potential M&A, new aircraft programs, or supplier partnerships as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems (IFS preferred; SAP or Oracle considered).
  • Understanding of key aerospace operational concepts: manufacturing lead time, supplier performance metrics, engineering change control, and material cost drivers.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.

Key Competencies

  • Analytical & Critical Thinking
  • Business Partnering & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Data Visualization & Storytelling
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Mindset
  • Financial Acumen & Operational Understanding
  • Proactive Problem Solving

Performance Metrics for Success

  • Accuracy and timeliness of monthly KPI and financial reports.
  • Quality and clarity of insights presented to leadership.
  • Demonstrated linkages between operational improvements and financial performance.
  • Positive feedback from Supply Chain and Engineering leadership on decision support quality.
  • Contribution to cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives across both functions.
