Who you are
- Has 4+ years of experience in a technical consulting or pre-sales solutions engineering role, and at least 2+ years of experience managing individual contributors
- Has experience scaling pre- and post-sales Solutions Engineering teams to become technically independent and self-sustainable
- Is familiar with web APIs , webhooks, SSO, and client-side development with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Exhibits strong problem-solving skills; you can easily weave together all the technical pieces to accomplish complex setups and workflows
- Has exceptional time management skills and is comfortable working under tight timelines
- Strong customer-facing presentation skills, comfortable presenting to C-suite and technical audiences alike
- Loves to learn and grow. They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business
- Comfortable performing product demos or demonstrating highly technical products
- Strong knowledge of privacy and security compliance
- Hands-on experience working with web solutions
- Experience with any of our integrations (like Brillium Exams, Direct Infusionsoft, Direct ActiveCampaign, etc.) and experience with Salesforce
What the job involves
- As a Solutions Engineering Team Lead, you will report into our Director of Customer Success and serve as both a trusted advisor and a product expert, ensuring customers realize maximum value from our platform
- Your work will span technical discovery, solution design, and enablement, and drive growth for both our customers and Thinkific
- Customer Success: You will provide technical solutions to our largest Thinkific Plus clients and Prospects. The goal with both of these groups is the same: to ensure they can leverage our platform to achieve strong business results. As part of this priority, you will contribute to improving processes and establishing a more structured approach for how the Solutions Engineering team collaborates with both our Sales and Customer Success teams
- Team Leadership: In addition to supporting clients directly, you will also run daily team operations, lead team meetings, and monitor and report on KPIs. You will also use a lead-by-example approach to mentoring your direct reports and foster a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence
- Your goal will be to drive measurable customer outcomes (specifically new business sales and strong NRR) while leading a high-performing Solutions Engineering team
- Act as the technical expert in sales cycles (new business & expansion), supporting revenue-generating opportunities through consultative solutioning and platform expertise
- Partner with prospects and customers to gain a deep understanding of their business challenges, technical requirements, and success criteria
- Lead and develop a group of Solutions Engineers and run day-to-day team operations, including daily huddles, meetings, and brainstorms, and share insights that enhance internal processes, cross-team alignment, and customer outcomes
- Design and recommend customized solutions leveraging Thinkific’s API, webhooks, SSO, themes, integrations, and apps ecosystem
- Deliver tailored product demos, workshops, and training sessions for clients and internal teams, and maintain technical resources for internal teams
- Respond to technical assessments such as RFPs, vendor due diligence, and security questionnaires
- Serve as the voice of the customer by providing structured feedback and feature requests to Product and Engineering teams
