About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, the Electrical Supervisor will be responsible to supervise the day-to-day safe activities of electricians and instrument technicians, provide maintenance support for electrical equipment on surface and underground, as well as to ensure that production, safety and environmental results meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Our goal is to have zero safety incidents through strong leadership and culture development

  • Coordinate daily production activities that meet the mine plan and to set goals for self and others to achieve this objective.

  • Participate in managing operating costs, work schedules.

  • Provide timely, accurate and well-communicated shift reports and summaries for cross-shift and turnaround needs.

  • Work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals - both within own department and cross-departmentally.

  • Participate in maintenance and reliability improvement projects, PM development and improvement.

  • Be highly effective in motivation, organization, time management and decision-making.

  • Provide on-going coaching, feedback, and development suggestions to improve individual performance.

  • Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum electrical inter-provincial trade certificate (Red Seal) and Supervisor Common Core

  • A minimum of 5 or more years’ experience in a mine/plant production environment including operating/maintenance experience in all areas of the mining activities. This includes 3 or more years of proven supervisory experience.

  • Will understand and be familiar with Electrical Codes as well as CSA M421-00 codes as pertaining to underground mining electrical installations

  • Ability to perform in a self-directed, fast paced, team environment

  • The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.

  • SAP experience and computer skills an asset

The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on a defined 7 day on/7 day off rotation schedule.
