About the role
Accountability:
The Aide - Environmental Services (H) will be responsible for reporting to the designated Supervisor – Client Services.
Job Summary:
As a crucial member of our team, the Aide – Environmental Services (H) is responsible for keeping the hostel locations across Sioux Lookout at a high standard of cleanliness.
Schedule: Early mornings, late evenings, weekdays, weekends and holidays
Position Type: Full-Time
Posting Type: This is an existing position
Closing Date: Open until Filled
Salary Range: $23.794 to $31.959 per hour
Location: Sioux Lookout, Ontario
Qualifications:
- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
- The ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
- Written and oral communication skills acceptable to the employer that meet the requirements of the role of Aide – Environmental Services.
- Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in a health services environment, would be an asset.
- Must have the flexibility to work all shifts.
- Must be an independent and self-motivated worker, as well as the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Clean and Sanitize Guest Rooms, Bathrooms, and Common Areas
- Make beds with fresh linens and change pillowcases, sheets, and towels as required
- Empty trash bins and replace liners in rooms, bathrooms, and lobbies
- Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, windowsills, baseboards, bedside tables, lamps, chairs, and reachable surfaces
- Disinfect toilets, sinks, faucets, showers, and bathroom floors, clean mirrors and walls near water fixtures
- Vacuum carpets or mop floors in guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, and lounges
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces (e.g. doorknobs, handrails, light switches) throughout the facility
- Replenish guest amenities such as soap, toilet paper, towels, tissues, and other items as required
- Ensure cleaning carts and supply rooms are stocked daily
- Maintain organized and stocked linen closets
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly (e.g. flickering lights, loose handrails, blocked fire exits)
- Monitor “SHARPS” containers for damage or if containers are full, report to the supervisor
- Respect guests’ privacy and maintain confidentiality regarding their stays
- Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions

It will require working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Considerable walking, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing and bending.

Frequently required to lift up to 30 lbs.
The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis
