Job Title: Software Developer - Senior Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days remote) Duration: 132 Business Days with possible extension Client: Public Sector Pay Rate: CAD $95 per hour
Role Overview
This is a Senior Software Developer role supporting Transit Platform Modernization initiative. You'll design, develop, and enhance enterprise applications that power real-time transit operations, including train and bus tracking, customer communications, scheduling, and operational systems. The role involves building scalable, cloud-based solutions, integrating multiple applications, and helping modernize the overall transit technology platform. You'll work closely with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performance applications, contribute to system architecture, and support cloud migration, microservices, CI/CD, and real-time data processing. It's a highly collaborative role focused on improving the technology behind public transit operations across Ontario.
Must Have
5+ years’ Experience with Cloud IaaS and PaaS (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) 10+ years’ Experience in developing and implementing small and large Enterprise applications 5+ years’ Experience designing and developing event-driven microservice architectures for systems that process near real-time data.
Public Sector Experience
Role and responsibilities. Produce and deliver design of a common applications platform for the Real-time scheduling, fare and customer communications ecosystem including applications and tools, data models and data life cycles, configurations, security, and deployment. Be an active participant in the further development of Solution Architecture practice. Drive the adoption of solution architecture's best practices, architecture processes and tools with the focus on Transit Operations and Communications Develop, enhance and maintain solution architectures for the Real-time scheduling framework (Trip Manager, TrainTrac, CCMS, TIS, TMS, Open API, CAD/AVL, GO Tracker) provides critical capabilities to Metrolinx Operations and Safety (Oakville Network Operating Centre (NOC), digital signage, online customer channels, bus and rail service planning). Deliver communication / presentation at the different levels of the organization, from Business to the development teams, planning and supervising the execution of the work being done. Ensure the Transit Operations and Communications ecosystem is properly architected and integrated with other systems - as required - based Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity strategic directions.
