Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced AZ licensed Flat Deck (Flatbed) Truck Driver to join our transportation team in Mississauga, Ontario.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of oversized, heavy, and general freight using flatbed trailers across local and regional routes.
We welcome applications from qualified drivers currently holding a valid AZ license in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate AZ-class tractor-trailer with flatbed equipment safely and efficiently
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Plan or adjust routes using GPS or navigation systems to optimize efficiency
- Load and unload goods and ensure cargo is properly secured using tarps, chains, straps, and binders
- Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems and equipment
- Oversee vehicle condition including tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment
- Maintain accurate records including driver logbooks, bills of lading, inspection reports, and trip reports
- Receive and relay information to dispatch and report delays, issues, or incidents
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid AZ (Class 1) Driver’s License
- 1 year to less than 2 years of AZ driving experience required
- Experience operating flatbed (flat deck) equipment
- Clean driving abstract and CVOR record
- Strong knowledge of load securement and safety regulations
- Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding environment
- Must meet company safety requirements including criminal record check, driver’s licence validity verification, and driving abstract review
Assets (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience with oversized or heavy haul loads
- Knowledge of tarp systems and chain securement
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELD)
Education
Secondary (High) school Graduation Certificate
Work Conditions
- Physically demanding work (lifting, strapping, tarping)
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Short-haul and/or regional driving
- Tight delivery schedules and time-sensitive freight
- Safety-sensitive position
- Sitting for extended periods
