Role Description The Security Systems Installer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Halifax Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing residential and commercial security systems, including cameras, alarms, access control devices, and related components. Day-to-day tasks include running and terminating data and low-voltage wiring, mounting and connecting equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring installations meet safety and quality standards. The installer will visit customer locations, interpret floor plans and job specifications, collaborate with team members, and provide basic customer guidance on system use. The role may also involve routine maintenance, system upgrades, and accurate documentation of work performed. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in installing and configuring security systems, including cameras, alarms, and access control devices. Candidates should possess skills in low-voltage and data wiring, including running cable, terminating connections, and using hand and power tools safely. Candidates should possess skills in technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and basic diagnostics for hardware and connectivity issues. Candidates should possess skills in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, and job work orders. Candidates should possess strong customer service and communication skills to explain systems clearly and interact professionally on-site. Relevant experience in security installation, telecommunications, or electrical work is beneficial. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for traveling to job sites is required. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting equipment, working on ladders, and operating in varied indoor and outdoor environments. High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in security systems, low-voltage wiring, or related fields is an asset. Very Competitive wage, from $22 to $35/hr compensation commeserate with level of knowledge and skills.
