Position Summary
We’re looking for a creative and community-minded Social Media Content Creator to join our Admin, Communications and Engagement Department. The ideal candidate is passionate about storytelling, Indigenous culture, and digital engagement. You’ll help share Wabano’s programs, events, and community initiatives in engaging and culturally grounded ways. This is a great opportunity for a student who is looking to pursue a career in communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Create engaging, visually appealing social media posts to promote upcoming programs, events, and community initiatives.
- Draft and schedule weekly email blasts to keep our community informed and connected.
- Support the Communications team in developing digital content aligned with Wabano’s voice and values.
- Work collaboratively with program leads to highlight success stories and community impact.
- Monitor social media activity and help grow Wabano’s online presence.
Qualifications
- Experience creating content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Reels, etc.).
- Strong writing and visual storytelling skills.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and community-based communication an asset.
- Ability to work independently and meet weekly posting deadlines.
- Familiarity with tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, or Meta Business Suite an asset.
Salary
20$ per hour
Hours
Flexible to fit schedule of staff and organization, some evenings when there are large events needing communications support.
