Nature & Scope
Reporting into the Manager, Finance, the Cash management supervisor will lead a team of 3–5 employees, providing both leadership and hands-on support. Responsibilities include reviewing general ledger coding, analyzing vendor and payment data, and ensuring efficient and accurate cash management processes. This position will require a strong, strategic understanding of accounting principles, while supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking activities.
The YMCA BC is a CPA Pre-approved Program Route (PPR) office.
Major Responsibilities**-** in this position, you will**:**
- Supervise and mentor a team of 3–5 individuals, fostering collaboration and performance.
- Provide hands-on coverage for the team during absences to maintain continuity.
- Oversee the cash management process, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and banking activities for month-end close.
- Prepare scenario-based “What-If” analyses to monitor how key metrics impact overall financial outcomes.
- Review, edit, and post month-end entries from subsystems, including sub-ledger transactions and accruals, to the general ledger.
- Maintain and update policies and procedures related to cash management and accounting processes.
- Work with branch administrative staff to correct procedures and resolve issues.
- Train staff on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and banking processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Provide guidance to the Accounts Payable team, including reviewing invoices and purchase card entries for accuracy.
- Perform Accounts Payable analysis to identify process improvements and reduce the risk of errors.
- Prepare year-end audit working papers and support external audit requirements.
- Use experience and judgment to plan, prioritize, and accomplish goals effectively.
- Manage processes, monitor compliance, and identify opportunities for improvement and operational efficiencies.
Qualification**-you bring:**
- 2–4 years of supervisory experience
- Experience with automated Accounts Payable systems preferred
- Background in a not-for-profit environment is an asset
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct is an advantage
- Knowledge of ActiveNet is an asset
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Successful candidate will be required to provide 3 satisfactory references
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record check with a Vulnerable sector search issued no later than six (6) months preceding the start date.
