What You’ll Be Doing
As a Surveyor at VanPile, you’ll play an essential role in executing and supporting field operations across a wide range of projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys of pile locations, batter orientations, and structure elevations using GPS and total station equipment.
- Draft, interpret, and update pre-construction and as‑built drawings in AutoCAD; prepare clear survey reports.
- Support dredging and construction activities using topographic and bathymetric data collection tools (singlebeam, multibeam, LiDAR).
- Prepare and coordinate survey equipment, instruments, and logistics for daily field operations.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to align survey outcomes with construction goals and schedules.
- Uphold VanPile’s high standards for Health, Safety & Environment, ensuring safe work in all conditions.
What You Bring
- Diploma or degree in Geomatics Engineering or Surveying.
- 3–5 years of experience in surveying—marine or heavy civil experience is an asset.
- Proficiency with GPS and total station surveying technology.
- Experience using AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience is an advantage).
- Strong computer and technical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Commitment to safety and ability to work in various weather and marine conditions.
Assets That Set You Apart
- Hydrographic survey experience (singlebeam, multibeam, LiDAR).
- Bathymetric data processing skills (HYPACK).
- Experience working with Trimble equipment.
- Small boat operation experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
