About the role
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Purchasing Associate. Thinking strategically, and in coordination with the Category Manager, the purchasing associate will be challenged to develop and maintain solutions to sustainable procurement. You will gain experience using our D365 Microsoft system and many other analytical tools to assist your team with issuing orders, dealing with vendors, and assisting our stores and DC with their requests. Your purchasing team members will look to you as the expert providing support and guidance on the system process and data accuracy. You will be supporting the merchant in product reviews, flyer submissions, and forecasting when needed.

Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price from suppliers for substitute items.

Issuing purchasing orders and maintaining system integrity.

Assisting a merchant with trade agreements and any cost changes.

Working with vendors and data management team to set up new products.

Working with Marketing team on designated projects for merchants.

Assisting stores and distribution center with product detail inquiries.

Managing inventory and stock if requested by a merchant.

Providing stores with solutions on system errors when required.

Keeping information accessible by sorting and filing documents.

Providing purchasing planning and control information by collecting, and summarizing data and trends.

Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Participating and assisting the team with special projects like planograms, line reviews, etc.

Managing invoicing issues from vendors.

Minimum 1-2 years of retail experience/ or Undergraduate degree or post-secondary diploma is an asset.

Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Must possess a sense of urgency.

Has a keen eye for detail.

Experience in Excel/ Word/ Tableau (an asset).
