Based in Montréal and Under the supervision of the Director of Legal Affairs, the Junior Litigation Lawyer provides expertise to the company’s stakeholders in handling litigation matters, including prevention, settlement, and/or judicial proceedings related to the operation of our properties.

  • Act as legal advisor in the prevention of disputes;
  • Manage all litigation for the department, from demand letters to judicial proceedings;
  • Identify the most appropriate procedures for each case (alternative dispute resolution, court proceedings, arbitration);
  • Advise on pre-litigation strategies (conflict anticipation, expert assessments, etc.);
  • Represent the organization before various courts and tribunals (administrative and specialized tribunals, Superior Court, Court of Québec, etc.);
  • Conduct legal research and provide opinions;
  • Draft legal documents required for the above tasks;
  • Coordinate and oversee the follow-up of cases and trials, including communications with external stakeholders and parties involved;
  • Negotiate and settle cases with various stakeholders, or attempt to resolve disputes when possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or equivalent);
  • Member of the Bar;
  • Between one (1) and three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in commercial litigation (real estate experience is an asset);
  • Experience in collection actions and arrears recovery;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
