Reporting to the Manager, Crew Pay - Pilots, this expert position will manage and analyze Air Canada Mainline and Rouge pilot pay calculations and data, focusing on special pay arrangements, management and supervisory pay and other exceptional pay activities, in accordance with the Air Canada/ALPA Collective Agreement. This position requires subject matter expertise which is currently attributed to one individual who will also provide training to the new Crew Pay team members, imparting expertise for succession planning.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain files and data related to pilots’ eligibility for special pay arrangements, based on Qualified Position, and Special Pay Activation. With the introduction of the new pay system and process redesign, this activity must be done on a more frequent basis to provide near real-time information to the pilot group.
- Manage Supervisor and Management Pilot monthly salaries for both Air Canada and Rouge.
- Perform pay-related analysis of AC/ALPA contract proposals and changes.
- Responsible for researching, evaluating and providing recommendations for resolution of pay, expense and allowance-related contractual issues. Maintain contract documentation.
- Train new Crew Pay Specialists and develop training plan with Crew Pay Management team.
- Recognize and analyze pay discrepancies. Develop SOPs to avoid ongoing discrepancies, which requires contractual compliance and collaboration between different departments.
- Manage all preparatory work prior to monthly data upload into new Crew Pay System, specifically LD and exception tables.
- Investigate and respond to queries and pay claims regarding special pay arrangements, management and supervisory pay credits and pay rates, and communicate with Pilots and/or Management accordingly.
- Analyze crew pay data and develop reports for management review.
- Provide analytical support to the Crew Resources team.
- Manage monthly ALPA Billing, communicating between ALPA and Manager Contract Administration to settle disputed items.
- Responsible for a variety of statistical activities required to prepare pilot crew pay data for processing.
- Other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
- University degree in business or related field (i.e., accounting or finance), an asset.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
- Strong understanding of the Air Canada/ALPA Collective Agreement and articles related to pay.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Full proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and working knowledge of Netline, Forum and other PC applications.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and accommodate changing priorities.
- Flexibility with work hours.
- High degree of professionalism and discretion is required.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
Conditions of Employment:
