Producer Reporting Analyst (6-Month Contract)
The Producer Reporting Analyst will support in all aspects of the producer and guilds reporting and music royalty administration.
The International Distribution business acquires distribution rights from a variety of sources (in-house commissioning, producing activities as well as third party content/IP owners) and aims to maximize the monetisation of those rights across all platforms globally. As part of this service of creating value for rights, International Distribution is required to report quarterly to producers and IP holders.
The PRA will be responsible for preparation of reports for each producer, clear and effective communication when sending reports out to partners and preparing the purchase orders to process the royalty payments for our content partners.
This is a new role that will report to the Senior Director, Finance, International Distribution and is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance at our head office in Toronto for a minimum of three (3) days per week.
The anticipated salary for this role is $65,000 - 70,000 per year, with final compensation determined by experience and qualifications.
Core Responsibilities & Duties
Producer Reporting
- Prior experience with reporting to Canadian and American guilds and unions (WGC, WGA, SAG and ACTRA/ UBCP) is a pre-requisite for the job
- Job will include corresponding with guilds and unions as well as broadcasters and distributors for residuals reports
- Review acquisition agreement and derive all necessary information required to prepare the producer reports
- Create and update all partner producer reporting
- Time sensitive delivery of producer reports
- It is imperative to provide reporting in advance of the quarter end to give producers enough time to review and approve reports
- Ensure all banking information up to date in the accounting system to ensure royalties are paid to the proper accounts
- Track and ensure all royalty payments are made by due date
- Identify opportunities for process improvements such as the possibility of producer reporting automation with various vendors
- Keeping up-to-date contact records for all partners as well as update producer reporting tracker
- Maintain the annual calendar of producer reporting deadlines
- Uphold positive relationships with producers as it is essential to the success of the International Distribution business
- Any other duties as assigned
Music Royalty Administration
- Working with postproduction on cue sheets
- Approve and ensure the correct SOCAN IPI number is used
- Submitting cue sheets to our music administrator (CCS or Anthem)
- Work with the Administrator and keep them updated on title sales/territories so they can follow up and chase down royalties
Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable Coordinator
- Highlight overdue invoices to AR team to facilitate collections
- Work closely with corporate AP teams to give them enough lead time to plan payments of royalties
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong Microsoft Suite skills including Excel
- Experience in similar role is preferable – media industry experience is an asset
- Strong customer service focus to communicate effectively with producers and internal teams – AR for outstanding invoices, AP for payments, sales team for any inquiries from producers
- Good inter-personal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in sales, operations and other departments
- Strong sense of accountability, critical thinking and decision-making ability
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferable for future growth, but not a must for this specific role. Accounting designation is a plus (CPA, CMA, CA, MBA, or CFA)
- Flexibility in responding to department’s needs and learning new businesses and processes.
- Ability to work independently on tasks assigned
- Ambition to ultimately grow beyond this role and take on progressively more challenging roles within the team
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong ability to work with teams organization wide
- Strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills
