About the role
Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, perform routine to moderately complex inspections, set quality standards for in-process and finished products, and develop testing and training methods. Collaborate with quality and production teams to recommend production improvements and manage quality assurance processes.
Responsibility:
- Participated in quality planning activities, including control plans, Advanced Project Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Review Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages and analyze Coordinated Measurement Machine (CMM) data.
- Identify, purchase, and implement gauging methods and systems.
- Engage in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality issues.
- Review and update process documentation to define quality assurance practices, such as work instructions, process alerts, and quality alerts.
- Manage supplier quality through direct communication, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
- Work with the assigned Material Review Board (MRB) on continuous improvement projects to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and scrap.
- Serve as the first point of contact for production quality issues and provide solutions.
- Conduct audits, manage receiving and outgoing quality functions, and provide training on quality tools.
- Experience in product launch activities
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or a related discipline.
Required Skills/Experience:
- 2-7 years of experience in quality assurance with automotive products.
- Proficiency in risk analysis, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, and quality assurance reports.
- Skilled in writing and executing engineering test protocols and quality reports.
- Strong ability to interpret drawings, apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and gauge Repeatability and Reliability (R&R).
- Strong communication and project leadership skills.
- Experience in supplier audits
- CMM Programming knowledge
- Weld knowledge and experience (GMAW)
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications or Six Sigma training preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office, CAD applications, and statistical analysis software.
- Hands-on experience identifying and resolving production issues.
