We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking individual who wants to make a lasting impact on our organization and Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services! Under the direction of the Deputy Chief and guidance of the Captain, the Firefighter is responsible for combating, extinguishing, and the prevention of fire, and the saving of life and property; as well as rapidly and efficiently performing various duties while working to mitigate an emergency incident, which frequently involves considerable hazards.
Directly in line with the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, you will assist with fire prevention activities and developing and delivering public education activities to the community, and will be responsible for:
- Performing a wide range of firefighting and related duties including fire suppression, rescue and extrication, spills containment, and providing emergency first aid and CPR
- Performing rescue and extrication operations to prevent loss of life and to prevent or minimize injuries
- Responding to fire alarms and other emergency calls; rapidly and efficiently performing firefighting and related duties under emergency conditions
- Assisting the Fire Prevention Officer in fire prevention activities including conducting fire prevention inspection on all classes of buildings and occupancy for compliance with the Ontario Fire Code and Town By-Laws
- Participating in training programs, as required, to maintain knowledge and proficiency in firefighting procedures, techniques, and equipment use
We are seeking a candidate with the following accreditations:
- Community College Diploma in Fire Protection Technology preferred or a graduate of a recognized Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Program and a minimum of three (3) years practical experience in the fields of fire protection, prevention and emergency planning and strong plans review skills is preferred OR
- High school diploma and minimum of (5) years of practical experience in the field of fire protection and prevention is preferred.
- A valid Standard First Aid and a CPR Level “C” certificate would be an asset.
- NFPA-1001 Firefighter I & II certification (Including NFPA 1072).
- Must have a clean driver’s abstract; a valid Ontario Class “DZ” Drivers Licence, and access to vehicle for conducting Corporate business.
- Successful completion of all seven components of the Fire Services of Ontario (FSO) testing.
- Must be available to work a variety of scheduled shifts including weekends, days, evenings and statutory/other holidays, including the ability to respond to periodic unscheduled emergency call outs after regular working hours.
- The successful candidate must be able to pass a Police security clearance including a criminal reference check as well as vulnerable screening.

The salary range for this position is $74,994 to $115,375 per annum (based on an average of a forty-two (42) hour work week) and the successful candidate will be compensated within this range.
