Based in Montreal, the Estimator supports the Construction and Development departments by providing technical advice and cost estimates throughout the project development process. The Estimator is also responsible for reviewing and updating estimates as the project progresses, taking into account current market costs.
Responsibilities:
- Implement an efficient estimating software, including a system for sending invitations to bid to suppliers and subcontractors;
- Conduct a thorough analysis of tender documents;
- Send invitations to suppliers and subcontractors;
- Perform take-offs, quantity controls, and cost estimates for the work;
- Register with and master the BSDQ public bidding system;
- Obtain subcontractor bids for projects opened through the BSDQ;
- Review and ensure the accuracy and compliance of pricing received from suppliers and subcontractors;
- Assist Project Managers in evaluating change notices and modification directives.
Qualifications:
- Education in Estimating, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (DEC or Bachelor's degree depending on experience);
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project estimating in the construction or real estate sectors;
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or other similar systems);
- Proven experience in implementing or optimizing estimating systems, including supplier and subcontractor invitation processes;
- Strong skills in reviewing plans and specifications: ability to perform accurate take-offs and rigorously analyze quantities and costs.
