Position Purpose

The Senior DevOps Architect plays a pivotal role in transforming our vision to Create Moments that Move People into a robust and future-proof platform. Working alongside the Director, Software Engineering and Head of Software Architecture, you will shape and execute a DevOps strategy that ensures our infrastructure, automation and deployment capabilities meet both current and future needs.

By defining and creating foundational DevOps components, guiding best practices across teams, and championing innovation, you will ensure every decision strengthens the reliability, scalability, and security of our platforms.

Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The Senior DevOps Architect works alongside the Director, Software Engineering and Head of Software Architecture to support the software product roadmap with robust infrastructure and automation strategies.

The Senior DevOps Architect will:

  • Work alongside the Director, Software Engineering and Head of Software Architecture to develop a comprehensive DevOps strategy that meets both immediate and future product goals.

  • Design and create, or oversee the creation of foundational DevOps components, libraries, and frameworks.

  • Guide engineering team in implementing infrastructure patterns that improve scalability, security, and reliability.

  • Mentor and influence engineers to adopt and maintain DevOps best practices.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and processes to support continuous improvement.

  • Ensure DevOps standards and practices are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure architecture and operational processes.

  • Lead efforts to modernize and integrate existing systems with long-term platform strategies.

People Management / Leadership Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Support Software Engineering Managers with onboarding new hires to development infrastructure and automation.

Coaching & Development

  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring and support for other DevOps engineers.
  • Support Software Engineering Managers to identify DevOps related career development opportunities for software engineers.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Facilitate open and transparent communication within the team and across departments.

  • Represent the team in cross-functional meetings and projects.

Qualifications and Experience
To successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the role, individuals must possess the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. In addition, the role requires the following certifications, knowledge, skills, and where applicable, physical requirements necessary for the position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a DevOps Architect or similar role.
  • 7+ years’ experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or related software engineering environment.
    • Required: CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Monitoring, Networking
    • Ideal: Helm, ArgoCD, On Prem Deployment, Cilium
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps architecture principles, platform scalability and security.
    • Required: Cloud, Scalable & Secure Systems, Load Balancing, Security Hardening, Automated Testing
    • Ideal: GCP, AWS, Zero Trust, Resilience Testing
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing foundational DevOps components, frameworks, and tooling.
    • Required: IaC, Continuous Deployment, Observability, Version Control, Secret Management, Incident Response
    • Ideal: Linux/Unix, Security Command Center, Tenable, Datadog, Deployment Strategies (blue-green, canary), HashiCorp Vault
  • A demonstrated ability to influence and mentor other DevOps engineer to encourage success.
  • Strong experience in cloud strategy, automation frameworks, and enterprise-scale deployment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with outstanding written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
  • An ability to transform complex and ambitious product strategy into achievable technical solutions
