About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional support to both patients and healthcare professionals. This position requires proficiency in electronic medical records, familiarity with medical terminology, and strong administrative skills.
Duties
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments and follow-ups, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Answer phone calls promptly, addressing patient inquiries and directing calls as necessary.
- Assist with front desk operations, including greeting patients and managing check-in/check-out procedures.
- Utilize software systems such as Telus Ps Suites for patient management and billing processes.
- Support medical office functions as needed, including coordinating with physicians for seamless patient care.
- Prepare and maintain patient files, ensuring all documentation is complete and up-to-date.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication within the office.
Requirements
- Up to date Vaccines including complete COVID -19 Vaccine series (2)
- Proven experience in a medical or dental office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems (EMR) is essential.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and administrative procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional phone demeanor.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficient in using phone systems and office equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical office administration is advantageous.
