Position Summary:

JBH will be implementing Epic’s hospital information system in partnership with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and we are looking for a passionate, skilled individual to help drive the project forward to successful completion. Reporting to Project Director, HIS Implementation the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the planning, execution, and overall success of the HIS implementation project through its full life cycle. This includes coordinating with internal clients, sponsors, and organizational leaders, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, functional managers, interdisciplinary teams, subject matter experts, and third-party contractors to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate all elements of the HIS implementation project (planning, budget tracking, scope, schedule, risks, issues, decisions, etc.) through the use of project management tools and techniques to ensure project goals are being achieved
  • Develop project plan in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare and present status updates (written and verbal) to all levels of the organization
  • Identify, track, mitigate, and manage risks as identified
  • Support a multi-disciplinary project team through all phases of the project life cycle, providing guidance, direction, and motivation throughout the duration of project
  • Lead project meetings, and facilitate discussions among stakeholders to foster strong relationships
  • Work with third parties to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively to deliver on-time and on or under budget
  • Hands on leadership of project in addition to managing (task assignment, performance management) other project resources through the execution of project deliverables
  • Provide support to senior executives for project Steering Committees
  • Leverage tools and templates to ensure standardized processes, procedures and reporting is adhered to
  • Patient Safety will be specifically considered as the incumbent performs the duties, functions or services of their job
  • Monitor and track adherence to key performance indicators
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including regional, provincial and/or private sector partners to ensure the successful completion of project deliverables

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant healthcare or related discipline required; Master’s degree an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent required
  • Change Management Certification an asset
  • 10+ years direct work experience in a project management role working on large-scale change management, quality improvement, and health system projects, with a track record of success
  • Experience with hospital information system implementation required; experience with Epic implementation is strongly preferred
  • Experience in leading complex strategic projects – defining scope, setting priorities, evaluating and managing risks and monitoring performance, preferably with a health technology focus
  • Strong understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and risk indicators
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, waterfall and iterative methodologies
  • Proficient in MS Suite
  • Experience with managing process redesign related to major clinical systems implementations and the delivery of positive clinical change
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate the activities of multiple teams to accomplish deliverables and meet project deadlines
  • Strong understanding of JBH Strategic Plan and Mission, Vision & Values
  • Excellent communication, time management, and project management skills
