As a Senior Graphic Designer, you will develop conceptual and effective visual marketing and communication solutions in support of the Downtown Strategy business unit. Primary duties include:
- Create visual solutions to communicate key messages.
- Use industry standard creative software, typography, graphic design and conceptual creative ideation to create cross channel materials that meet the goals and objectives for the City's marketing and communications strategies.
- Review and research past projects and similar initiatives; stay informed about graphic design current best practices.
- Collaborate and brainstorm to develop preliminary concepts to solve client communications and marketing needs.
- Consult with clients and colleagues to define project parameters; advise on communication and production tactics; present concepts to clients, explaining strategies and rationale for design solutions.
- Give creative guidance to internal production support and external vendors, ensuring design adheres to corporate brand and quality.
Qualifications
- A degree in Visual Communications or Graphic Design and at least 3 years of experience.
- Intermediate proficiency using industry standard software including Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat) is required.
- Previous experience with video and motions production is a preferred asset.
- Previous experience in illustrations and social media content creation is an asset.
- An understanding of design needs for web and social media channels is an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong communication, visual and creative skills.
- The ability to develop creative solutions, clearly articulate your design choices, and provide quality customer service while still meeting timelines and budgets is essential.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $42.62 - 56.97 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
