Job Summary & Requirements The Allied Health Services (AHS) team consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care.
The team has a professional practice leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.
We are currently seeking a Temporary Part Time Registered Dietitian to join our acute inpatient team.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited program in Human Nutrition or equivalent (B.A.Sc/Bsc)
- Successful completion of 1 year Dietetic Internship
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Dietitians - mandatory
- Member of Dietitians of Canada - preferred
- Evidence of continuing education in Acute Care Dietetics
Experience:
- Recent experience with a varied clinical practice in acute care (medical and surgical) and/or rehabilitation settings.
- A strong theoretical and practical knowledge of nutritional status and needs of acute care patients.
- Ability to effectively develop and implement nutrition care plan for patients with acute and medically complex nutrition needs, including the provision of patient education
Competencies:
- Ability to function co-operatively as part of an interprofessional treatment team.
- Possess comprehensive assessment, treatment, and documentation skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, flexibility and initiative
- Ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals.
- Superior organizational and time management skills are essential to management of the caseload.
Other:
- Ability to learn about, from, and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care.
- Demonstrate an ability to appreciate the importance of, and be open to, new concepts and trends in the academic and clinical areas of health care knowledge.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.
As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
