Automotive Dealership Controller

Temporary – 9 months to 1 year

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Dealership Controller to provide financial leadership, oversight, and accountability for our Western Kia dealership. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing strong internal controls. The ideal candidate brings proven expertise in dealership accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and sound financial analysis.

Reporting directly to the Group Controller and working closely with the General Manager, the Automotive Dealership Controller will be responsible for directing and managing the dealership accounting functions, including establishing best practices and procedures.

Your Daily Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and complete all accounting functions for the dealership.

  • Lead the day to day operations of the Accounting Department.

  • Provide interpretation of financial data.

  • Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable staff responsible for the collection of revenues and disbursements.

  • Create, maintain, and monitor internal controls for financial and accounting functions.

  • Provide superior customer service to all operating departments within the dealership (including Sales, Parts, and Service).

Managerial, Compliance, and Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide requested working papers to the Dealer Principle for financial disclosure ensuring adherence to GAAP and providing variance analysis as required.

  • Oversee or perform tasks to ensure financial functions are reconciled monthly including but not limited to cash, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payables, manufacturer statements, payroll administration, vehicle deal commissioning, intercompany accounts, benefit administration etc.

  • Collaborate with vendors and department managers to implement cost saving and process improvement initiatives.

  • Provide financial analysis and input to Senior Management for forecasting purposes.

  • Coordinate the provision of information to auditors for annual reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with Provincial & Federal Government reporting requirements & tax filings.

What We’re Looking for:

  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred) – CMA/CGA or equivalent.

  • Experienced in the analysis and creation of accounting and financial statements.

  • Solid analytical, technical, and mathematical abilities.

  • Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations and laws pertaining to the automotive industry.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills are required to work with a cross section of staff and management who have differing levels of financial comprehension.
