Reporting to the Surface Services Coordinator, the Surface Service Supervisor will assist the latter in the execution of his duties and responsibilities. Based at the Windfall site, located in Northern Québec, the incumbent will work on a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
-
Ensure compliance at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and regulations, and ensure that these rules are respected by employees;
-
Supervise maintenance work on all roads across the Windfall Project site, including diamond drilling roads when required, as well as site access roads;
-
Plan and supervise snow removal operations on roads within the Windfall Project site and on forestry access roads;
-
Oversee excavation work on site as well as road construction activities;
-
Ensure supervision during the installation and maintenance of site buildings and plumbing systems;
-
Supervise surface contractors for excavation, crushing, and plumbing work, as well as clearing contractors for road or construction activities;
-
Ensure the repair and maintenance of roads, bridges, and signage along the access road to the Windfall site;
-
Manage rest areas (lay-bys / haltes);
-
Supervise the repair and maintenance of mine water treatment ponds;
-
Ensure the installation and maintenance of potable water systems;
-
Supervise carpenters and contractors;
-
Prepare cost estimates and ensure compliance with approved budgets;
-
Supervise and coach personnel under his responsibility in achieving objectives while ensuring compliance with established schedules;
-
Conduct performance evaluations of personnel under his responsibility;
-
Prepare applicable daily reports, monthly reports, and related variances;
-
Perform any other duties related to the position of Surface Service Supervisor that contribute to the successful execution of the project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Hold a diploma in a relevant field; the diploma may be substituted by equivalent experience;
-
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in personnel supervision;
-
Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in the mining industry (asset);
-
Experience in construction site environments;
-
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (Outlook, Excel, etc.);
-
Good working knowledge of English;
-
Hold a valid explosives permit;
-
Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
-
Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites;
-
Knowledge related to the completion of monitoring and tracking documentation (work permits, daily reports, etc.);
-
Knowledge of the various processes in accordance with industry standards and ensure compliance with same.
BASIC SKILLS
-
Be an excellent team player and demonstrate tact;
-
Demonstrate strong adaptability and openness to change and constructive feedback;
-
Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize;

Be autonomous, show initiative, and be able to manage multiple files simultaneously;

Be an effective communicator with various stakeholders;

Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
