What’s The Team Like Our Heavy-duty mechanics are responsible for maintaining and repairing airport equipment, including sweepers, plows, and a variety of trucks. Their work ensures all machinery operates safely and efficiently to support critical airport operations in all weather conditions.
What Are Some Of The Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections and utilize diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues affecting equipment performance.
- Perform repairs and overhaul components on all airport vehicles and heavy equipment
- Implement maintenance procedures according to manufacturers and Calgary Airport Authority service schedules
- Document all repairs, updated processes, maintenance processes, and any updated procedures where applicable
- Perform non structural welding repairs where necessary on a variety of metals
- Collaborate with team members to ensure operational efficiency and minimize equipment downtime
What Do You Need To Bring
- You’ll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don’t worry – we’ll help you through this! For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information
- Journeyman Certificate (Completion of government exams and practical experience)
- Understanding of engines (Diesel, gas, propane) as well as electric drive motors
- 2–4 years of progressively responsible experience in heavy duty mechanic roles.
- Knowledge of hydraulic principles and systems
- Problem solving abilities to address diagnostic and fabrication needs
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and adapt maintenance procedures to evolving operational needs
- Experience identifying and implementing improvements in maintenance processes
- As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
- This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
What Additional Skills Are An Asset
- Bilingual in English and French
- Class 3 drivers license
