Job Summary**:**
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our recycling operations team. This role involves processing plastic recyclable bales by transporting them to the appropriate machinery using a forklift, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining a clean and efficient working environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating forklifts and a commitment to safety and quality control in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities**:**
- Transport and Load/Unload Plastic Bales: Safely operate a forklift to transport plastic recyclable bales from storage areas to the processing machines.
- Machine Operation: Load bales into the designated machines for processing, ensuring the bales are correctly placed for optimal processing efficiency.
- Inventory Management: Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory of recyclable materials, ensuring all bales are properly tracked and documented.
- Quality Control: Monitor the quality of bales and processed materials, reporting any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), forklift safety protocols, and safe handling procedures.
- Material Sorting: Ensure plastic bales are sorted and identified correctly before processing, as per the company's recycling standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks on forklifts and other equipment used in material handling to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
- Record Keeping: Accurately log the movement of materials and any relevant operational data into the system, ensuring compliance with internal processes.
- Cleaning and Housekeeping: Keep the working area clean and organized, adhering to cleanliness standards in the warehouse or processing areas.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with team members to ensure smooth transitions between processing steps and help maintain an efficient workflow.
Qualifications & Skills**:**
- Forklift Certification: Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and carry up to 20-40 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Experience: Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or a similar field is preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate sorting and processing of recyclable materials.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, especially about heavy machinery and material handling.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues with materials or equipment.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while contributing to individual tasks.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work various shifts or overtime as needed.
Working Conditions**:**
- Environment: Warehouse and recycling processing areas, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and other environmental factors.
- Hours: [Morning Shift, one day weekend scheduled].
- Physical Requirements: Regular lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and forklift operation.
