Council & Committee Assistant
The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Council & Committee Assistant.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Deputy Clerk & Manager Legislative Services & Clerk, the Council and Committee Assistant is responsible for providing all aspects of administrative support in the preparation of council and committee meeting agendas and all aspects of Council and Committee record keeping and the retention thereof.
Responsibilities include, and are not limited to: remediate documents for accessibility for Council and Committee meeting agendas; assist in the preparation and distribution of agendas and minutes, scheduling of Council meetings and Council Meeting preparation and support, track and maintain record keeping of all aspects relating to Council and Committee proceedings; drafting communications; responding to public inquiries or directing the inquiries/communications to the appropriate department, assist with by-law records management and maintaining department databases; assisting as back up support in the processes pertaining to vital statistics and licensing and other administrative support to the Legislative & Clerk Services Department.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must have a post-secondary education in Office Administration or a related field, combined with a minimum three (3) years experience in an office environment, preferably in a municipal setting. The preferred candidate will have training in remediating documents to make them accessible along with completion or working towards completing AMCTO’s Municipal Administration Program. The ideal candidate will have strong research and analytical skills, excellent customer service skills, and through knowledge of related by-laws and legislation. This position will be proficient in Microsoft 365 products including Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Power Point and have strong sound knowledge of computer software applications such as eSCRIBE, and Laserfiche; and adaptability to learn program software is required.
Applicants must be able to regular hours of work between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, for a maximum of thirty-five (35) hour per week. Candidates must be able to attend Council & Committee meetings twice per month outside of the regular hours of work.

Salary
This position is vacant due to a resignation. The Town offers an hourly rate of $35.70 (2025), in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.2. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work.
