About the role
Job Title: Lead Systems Designer
Department: Sales and Engineering Reports To: Sales Operations Manager Status: Full Time/Hybrid Work Schedule
Overall purpose and objective of this position
To design, standardize, and maintain the technology stack utilized by Trinus Technologies across all clients. This role is responsible for selecting products, defining configuration standards, leading the sales engineering team, complete client designs and creating the documentation required to enable consistent, secure, and scalable implementation by the project and service delivery teams.
Goals
Over seeing a team of 2-3:
Within 12 months
Develop and document a standardized technology stack across all core service categories Create baseline design and configuration standards for networking, endpoints, cloud platforms, and security Align existing client environments to approved standards where practical Build documentation frameworks within IT Glue for engineering and support teams Complete client alignment reviews for all managed services clients
Within 18 months
Refine and mature architecture standards based on operational feedback and performance metrics Collaborate with internal teams to reduce variability in client environments to improve Support efficiency and profitability
Within 24 months
Establish a fully standardized, secure, and scalable service delivery model Improve service gross margins through standardization and reduced support complexity
Key tasks and responsibilities

Design and maintain standardized technology stacks across all product and service categories Coordinate the alignment of client environments to Trinus standards Evaluate and select vendors and products based on security, reliability, supportability, and cost Manage vendor relationships and programs Create detailed technical documentation including standards, runbooks, diagrams, alignment processes and implementation guides Provide architectural guidance for complex client environments including cloud migrations and network design Coordinate with their sales engineering team to ensure solutions are aligned with standards and client requirements Act as escalation point for high-level technical decision making and design validation Continuously review and improve standards based on industry trends and operational feedback Ensure cybersecurity best practices are embedded into all designs and product selections Mentor and guide engineering staff on standards, best practices, and implementation approaches Other tasks as assigned by leadership
Skills
- Excellent supervision and management skills with a focus on employee motivation, training, mentorship and task delegation.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with a focus on the ability to concisely communicate to clients, staff, and industry-partners.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build excellent and professional client relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize multiple requests according to urgency and need.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write in a concise, professional, and business-like manner.
- Strong report writing and analysis skills.
- Strong architectural and systems design experience across networking, cloud, and endpoint technologies
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and risk-based design
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Strong vendor evaluation and product selection capabilities
- Experience working within MSP environments and understanding operational constraints

Other Requirements

- The successful applicant will be required to sign a standard employment contract with non-disclosure and non-competition clauses. A Criminal Records check is also required.
