York Mills Centre - Temporary Part Time Security Guard

Site Description:
Situated in Toronto’s North York district, the Class “A” 570,000-square foot complex is LEED and BOMA BEST Gold certified. In addition to offering both office and retail space, the site boasts direct access to TTC’s Yonge Line at York Mills Station, a GO Transit terminal and Highway 401. There is green space on-site and the property is within close proximity to walking/cycling trails. The building is proudly managed by Colliers International.

Position Details:

Position: | Temporary Part Time Security Guard

Site: | York Mills Centre

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: | Monday - Friday (3:00PM - 7:00PM)

Payrate: | $18.62

Internal Posting Date: July 31, 2025

Internal Closing Date: August 8, 2025
External Closing Date: August 14, 225

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and patrol the premises to ensure safety and security.
  • Perform regular security checks of the property, including parking areas, entrances, exits, and other designated areas.
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized access or unlawful activities.
  • Control access at entry points and ensure only authorized personnel enter the premises.
  • Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies and take appropriate actions as needed.
  • Assist in the enforcement of company policies and procedures, including monitoring and reporting any suspicious activities.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or security breaches promptly to the management team.
  • Complete daily logs and security reports, documenting any unusual occurrences.
  • Provide assistance to employees, visitors, and vendors as needed.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and security equipment, ensuring they are functioning properly.
  • Cooperate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other authorities when necessary.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Valid G class Driver License
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
