About the role

The Role

The Technical Test Specialist will provide technical expertise for test-related solutions to improve the timeliness and quality of technical deliverables in support of projects and operational activities. The Technical Test Specialist is responsible for developing and refining technical strategies and test processes, configuring the most modern third-party test tools to support efficient and appropriate testing, and enhancing or building in-house test automation tools. You will also mentor other System Test Analysts on technical matters and test automation. In this role, you will:

  • Use effective automation tools based on object-oriented analysis and object-modeling/data-modeling, including Selenium, SauceLabs, Grinder, C# and Python
  • Test software solutions developed in Microsoft Visual Studio, .NET Blazer, ASP, ASP.NET, XML, source code management tools, and Oracle 11g or later
  • Develop and deliver technical testing strategies, tactics, and tools and techniques to both expedite the delivery of and add accuracy to the testing process
  • Train and mentor System Test Analysts in debugging, root-cause and impact analysis
  • Collaborate with technical peers in the definition, testing and necessary remediation of system non-functional requirements
  • Create detailed logical and physical system test cases and scenarios
  • Identify and resolve performance, stress and end-to-end testing related complex business and technical problems and issues
  • Design and develop technical solutions to improve performance and end-to-end testing quality and effectiveness using Selenium, SauceLabs, Python and Grinder
  • Work independently with minimal guidance
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new products and processes to improve the timely delivery of quality technical solutions
  • Create, document, execute, and evaluate on detailed logical and physical test cases, test scripts, Test frameworks and expected results to prove system conformance to business requirements and technical specifications
  • Assist with and ensure database data integrity across test environments
  • Design and build tools and utilities to diagnose data errors and data anomalies
  • Assist with testing, monitoring and maintenance of other IT environments, such as integration-test, training, and production environments

Salary range: $81,498 - $95,880

Work status: Full-time in office

Location: Guelph, Ontario

Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree, preferably in computer science or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an Information Technology capacity
  • 4+ years’ experience in testing environments, test methodologies, test tools, technical writing, and software development life-cycle
  • Must have technical expertise in SQL, C#, Python, .NET, XML, HTML, data modeling, Oracle
  • Ability to critically read and evaluate functional and technical documentation
  • Strong experience with software testing techniques and methods to achieve optimal quality results
  • Experience in system design, programming, debugging and root cause analysis
  • Experience in .Net development and testing, web development and testing, SharePoint, MS Great Plains, MS Business Central, MS Dynamics 365, PowerPages, Selenium 2.0, SauceLabs, Grinder, and Visual Studio Team Services and Jira is an asset,
  • Experience in software architecture and engineering and in-depth white-box understanding of server technology an asset
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry an asset
  • Knowledge of programs delivered by Agricorp, such as AgriStability, Production Insurance and Risk Management Program, an asset
